Monaco returns to the “Mets”
Beaten by Limoges after two extensions, Boulogne-Levallois sees Monaco return to equality at the top of the Betclic Elite ranking thanks to its success in Paris. Difficult winner of Fos-sur-Mer, ASVEL does not let go of the leading duo.
Monaco is always more unstoppable in Betclic Elite. The “Roca Team” took advantage of its trip to the Accor Arena to sign a fifth victory in a row at the expense of Paris. After the first undecided moments, Sasa Obradovic’s players made a first acceleration at the end of the first quarter to take a lead of up to seven points. Led by Ryan Boatright (15 points, 5 assists), the club from the capital suspended themselves to go back in front during the ten minutes leading up to half-time, but could never escape. The Monegasques took advantage of the situation to take the lead at the break for five points. It was back on the floor that Dwayne Bacon’s teammates (16 points, 8 rebounds) made the difference. Leading by twelve lengths ten minutes from the end of the meeting, the Principality club still had to grit its teeth at the very end of the match to win by seven points (69-76). A victory that is not without consequences in the standings
Boulogne-Levallois falls again and is no longer alone
In effect, at the end of the suspense, Boulogne-Levallois conceded on the Limoges floor their seventh defeat in 24 games. In Beaublanc, the Metropolitans started with a bang, with a 10-0 to take a little margin on the scoreboard. But this advantage did not ultimately hold against CJ Massinburg’s teammates (31 points, 9 rebounds), who made the connection in the second quarter and then led by two points at the break. On its take, the CSP raced in the lead throughout the third quarter but Vincent Collet’s players never stayed out of reach, snatching overtime on a three-point shot from Jordan McRae (28 points, 10 rebounds). Five extra minutes which should have allowed Limoges to pinch the match but, after two failures on a free throw by Hugo Invernizzi (26 points, 8 rebounds), Vince Hunter (12 points) extended the pleasure. However, the Limougeauds did not give up and won by five lengths (109-104 a2p). Boulogne-Levallois thus sees Monaco come back up to par with the same record of 17 wins for 7 losses.
ASVEL does not lose contact
After two losses in a row against Boulogne-Levallois and Dijon, ASVEL is moving forward in the championship and does not let the leading duo fly away. The Rhodaniens still had difficulties to win against the red lantern of Betclic Elite, Fos-sur-Mer. Les Provençaux, unimpressed by their opponents, raced in the lead for most of the first half but Deishuan Booker’s teammates (23 points) were unable to widen the gap against Villeurbannais who hunkered down before reaching half-time with a three-point lead. Chris Jones (16 points, 5 assists) widened the gap in the return on the Astroballe floor but Fos-sur-Mer, even trailing by twelve points at the start of the last quarter, did not give up. . Returning to contact with ASVEL, the Provençals lost by four units (84-80) and does not take advantage of the misstep of Châlons-Reims. The Villeurbannais, with 16 wins for 8 losses, are very close to the leaders and have not left aside the idea of playing spoilsports at the end of the regular season.
