A demonstration against racism this Sunday in Bertrix
This Sunday, March 20, on the eve of the International Day against Racism and Discrimination, two separate actions against racism are organized in Bomal-sur-Ourthe and Bertrix. The province of Luxembourg thus joins 14 other Belgian cities where the 21/3 platform denounces growing discrimination, even today in times of war in Ukraine and of a pandemic.
A national action on the occasion of Anti-Racism Day has been an annual tradition since 2018. That year, more than 150 civil society organizations from all over Belgium united in the 21/3 platform. Around March 21, they find themselves in the street.
In Bomal-sur-Ourthe (Durbuy), the CNCD-11.11.11 Luxembourg Belge, the CIEP Lux, ABP Luxembourg, the Miroir Vagabond, the theater of works and days and the ASBL CRILUX offer an action from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Petite Batte market. Concretely, the public is invited to reflect on the structural racism present in our society and to sign Amnesty’s petitions.
In Bertrix, a demonstration against racism is organized by the cultural center, the Fedasil center of Herbeumont, the Red Cross center of Sainte-Ode, the CNCD-11.11.11 Luxembourg Belge, the CRILUX, the PCS of Bertrix and the Avana group. The rally will take place in front of Bertrix town hall, rue de la gare, 38 at 11 a.m. On the program, creation of a tree of wishes against prejudice and songs with the intercultural group from Bertrige Avana.
