Winner at Auxerre, Toulouse rushes to Ligue 1
It is not yet acquired, obviously, but the victory of Toulouse on the lawn of Auxerre, Saturday afternoon, sounds like a very important step for the return of Téfécé in Ligue 1. After their defeat in Caen (1- 4), last Saturday, the Violets reacted brilliantly against Amiens on Tuesday (6-0). This victory will allow them whatever happens on the other lawns to have at least eight points ahead of the third at the end of this 30th day. Ligue 1 is reaching out to them.
Was it the memory of the 6-0 conceded in the first leg? Still, the Auxerrois attacked this shock against Toulouse with caution. Usually adept at keeping the ball, Jean-Marc Furlan’s players (voluntarily?) left it to their opponent for a good twenty minutes.
A situation that did not bother Téfécé, very quickly at the forefront with a lot of activity from the two side, Issiaga Sylla and Mikkel Desler. And the first alerts for the Burgundian defense by Ado Onaiwu (12th, 15th). Auxerre on the counter produced a little air with the header of Gaëtan Charbonnier (17th) and the strike of Gaëtan Perrin (24th), well captured by Maxime Dupé.
We can’t stop Branco Van den Bommen
Toulouse seemed sure of its strength and the meeting was quickly going to take an important turn. He cut off Anthony Rouault’s head on the crossbar on a free kick from Branco Van den Boomen (27th). And then this blunder of Donovan Léon who released an anodized aerial balloon before, it seems to unbalance Stijn Spierings. Penalty, decided Stéphanie Frappart, transformed by Van den Boomen (0-1, 33rd).
Less than five minutes later, Charbonnier, in the nascent nervousness at AJA, was sent off for a willful and malicious foul on Spierings (38th). Auxerre got a little more complicated on this cross from Rouault which found Van den Boomen launched into the back of Jubal. The Dutchman, monstrous at the moment, controlled and struck from the right instantly to place the ball in the opposite side netting. After the penalty, son 12th but of the season (0-2, 41st).
Dugimont restores hope
Automatically, the second period did not attack on high bases. Alexis Trouillet (56th) and Mathias Autret tried to wake up the almost 14,000 spectators (season record) who were also stunned. And it was in an almost sleepy atmosphere that Rémy Dugimont, who entered before the hour mark (58th) shortly, gave hope and voice to all Abbé-Deschamps with a masterful strike from 25 meters in full skylight (1-2, 71st).
However, we had to wait for additional time to see the Auxerrois finally let go. After a violent head-to-head clash between the two Toulouse defenders, Rouault and Nicolaisen, seven additional minutes were announced. But it was Nathan Ngoumou who had the best opportunity missing his face-to-face with Donovan Léon (90th + 1).
Obviously, the challenge will have sealed the beautiful collective dynamics of an AJA, unrecognizable in the first period, she who remained on five victories in a row. Toulouse continues its seemingly royal march towards Ligue 1.
