Munich (dpa / lby) – FC Bayern Munich wants to say goodbye to the two-week international break after two Bundesliga games without a win. In the home game against 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday (6.30 p.m.), coach Julian Nagelsmann can fall back on goalscorer Robert Lewandowski, who suffered during the week. “Lewy was in a very good mood,” reported the coach after the impressions of the Munich team’s final training session on Friday.
The leader’s lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund has shrunk to four points. Nagelsmann admitted that he could feel the breath of the second-placed team “on the back of his neck more than in the last five weeks.”
FC Augsburg will play their direct competitor VfB Stuttgart in a relegation battle on Saturday (3:30 p.m.). “With 60,000 spectators behind us, it will be a very difficult away game for us,” said coach Markus Weinzierl. But he assured that he was “not afraid”. At the same time, the bottom of the table SpVgg Greuther Fürth expects a surprise in the home game against the Champions League contender SC Freiburg.
