Princess Stéphanie of Monaco kicks off the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles électiques
As every year for more than 30 years, the Gazelles took the start of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles this Saturday. Princess Stéphanie of Monaco kicked off the race for the electric category, from Place du Palais.

The E-Gazelles start from the Place du Palais
The 30th anniversary edition of the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles in 2020 had been postponed to the following year, due to the health crisis. This March 19, 2022, the 31st edition held like every year for women aged 18 to 71 and of different nationalities in the Moroccan desert. The race, which takes place without speed, without GPS and with old-fashioned navigation, is an unmissable event for off-road rally enthusiasts.

Princess Stéphanie discovers the drivers of the electric category
The E-Gazelle category got its start in the Principality. This category includes electric cars or buggies. This year, 8 electric gazelles are taking part in the rally.
Princess Stéphanie, 57, gave the symbolic start of the race from Place du Palais. The sister of the Monegasque sovereign saw the 8 teams leave the Principality to reach Nice, where they met up with the other Gazelles for the official start of the race.
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles allows four categories of vehicles to participate: the 4X4/Truck, Quads/SSV, Crossover/Crossover Hybrid and E-Gazelle categories. Today, the different categories have started the race which is placed under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco. the race can be followed here.
On March 21, the drivers will have to go through a technical check to start the race in Morocco. The race itself will start on March 23 until March 31. A transfer takes place towards Essaouira on April 1st and the official arrival will take place on the beach on April 2nd. On April 3, the Gazelles reached the port of Tangier where they embarked in the direction of Sète, in France.
