After his overwhelming victory over Amiens (Sum) at the Stadium (6-0), the Toulouse Football Club was moving to Auxerre (Yonne), this Saturday, March 19, 2022, on behalf of the 30and Ligue 2 day. A team that the Violets had also beaten in the first leg on the same score worthy of a tennis match, but which has since resumed from the hair of the beast. For this return match, the deal was somewhat different against Burgundians who were 3are of Ligue 2, six lengths from the leader.
The untenable “VDB” has struck again
It was the TFC who opened the scoring at the Abbé Deschamps stadium, on a penalty whistled after a foul on Stijn Spierings, and converted by Branco Van den Boomen (33and), still untenable this Saturday. Five minutes later, the Violets found themselves in numerical superiority, after the direct red card lost to Gaetan Coalthe star striker of AJA, also author of a fault on Stijn Spierings.
A few minutes later it’s again Branco Van den Boomen – already named player of the month for February in Ligue 2 – which worsened the mark at the 41and. the 12and corn this season for the Dutchman “VDB”, who is also… the best passer in the championship. He was elected again match man.
An AJA player attacks… arbitration
Nine shots, including two on target and two goals… Toulouse Football Club returned to the locker room with a precious difference on the clock. It was obviously too hard to swallow for Quentin Bernard, the back of AJ Auxerre, who attacked the trio of referees: “When professionals are refereed by amateurs…” he said at the microphone of beIN Sports, before directly attacking the match referee, Stéphanie Frappart: “It’s a shame that she only celebrates like that, but hey, we know her, she’s used to it”.
Auxerre reduced the mark… in vain
But the fact is that it was Téfécé who had the upper hand in the game. While the Violets clearly led the debates, AJ Auxerre returned to the match against the course of the game in the 70and minute, claiming the mark, with a magnificent strike from Remy Dugimont, unstoppable for the Toulouse goalkeeper Maxime Dupé. But the step was too high, and the Violets a step above. Final score: 1-2.
Stijn Spierings suspended from next game
Note that at the end of the match: the Toulouse defenders Rasmus Nicolaisen and Anthony Rouault collided, and remained on the ground. After a long interruption, the two Violets finished the meeting… both bandaged in the head.
Other bad news for Téfécé: Stijn Spierings having received a yellow card this Saturday – the third in ten games -, Téfécé will be deprived of its precious midfielder for the next match…
And now, Paris FC
By putting pressure on the Paris Football Club (PFC), who moves to Pau (Pyrenees-Atlantiques) at 7 p.m., Téfécé distances itself and now counts nine points ahead on the second of the classification, and nine on Auxerrethird. AC Ajaccio (Corse-du-Sud) can also stay at eight lengths if successful on Nimes (Gard)this Saturday night.
The next game of the Violets, in two weeks, will be one of the great posters of the season for Philippe Montanier’s proteges: Saturday April 2, the TFC receives… the PFC. The leader facing his dolphin. After this poster, there are only seven championship days left, so it’s a perfect opportunity to take off… and open up for good the gates of Ligue 1!
