A “healthy” spread invented in Toulouse
When the jar is opened, the appearance is reminiscent of a famous spread. A little less dense, it is above all in terms of taste and composition that it stands out. “We wanted a product that allows you to have fun but that is good for your health. There was no added sugar and no oil, which was a real headache,” explains Florent Carrio, who founded Nutripure in 2018 with his brother Christophe, a former world karate champion and inventor of a training method called CTS.
Red beans and dates
To achieve their goals, the two Toulouse entrepreneurs were inspired by Japanese pastry. “This spread is made from kidney beans, which have a texture that replaces oil. And for the sugar, we opted for the date. The result is a product with a slight taste of cocoa and, above all, half the sugar and fat content of conventional pasta.
Because the objective of Nutripure, based in Donneville, south of Toulouse, is to address both athletes and people who want to eat healthy. “We had it tasted at the Ramonville metro exit and 40 to 50% of people were happy with the taste. We are closer to 80 to 90% in sports halls, ”assures the manager.
Initially specializing in food supplements for healthy sports, the Haute-Garonne company has since expanded its range with food. “Nutrition is an important issue. And supplements only work with a healthy diet,” recalls Florent Carrio. Well helped by the craze for physical activities after the first confinement Nutripure posted a turnover of 10 million euros for 2021.
