Everything was going pretty well… A 43-year-old woman was looking to acquire a car without a license, in Toulouse, at the end of February 2022. While she finds her happiness at the beginning of the following month and thinks she is facing an honest seller, it was nothing.
Victim of a scam
It was on February 28 that a forty-year-old, looking at the classifieds, threw her evolution on a car without a license. She exchanges with the seller, before meeting on March 4.
“When she shows up for the appointment, the seller gives her the crisis card, the duplicate keys, and all the documents necessary for the sale”, indicates a police source to Toulouse news. ” Thinking to be in his right, the lady buys the car and leaves with it. »
But she realizes that the vehicle… is reported stolen. ” She complains for the scam of which she was a victim, against the couple who sold her the car, since the seller was with his wife at the time of the sale. »
A complaint from the real owner
While the fraudulent transaction was taking place, a complaint arrived at the offices of the Toulouse police station on March 3, that ” of a 36 year old man, owner of the vehicle. A complaint against the couple who was reselling the vehicle in question.
The victim then recounts having been shaken, molested, and having received a blow. « Two days of ITT were prescribed to him. The keys, papers, vehicle registration document and car insurance were stolen from him during this theft.
With two complaints on the counter, the couple of crooks find themselves with the police in their coattails.
Investigators first arrest a 29-year-old man, the one who sold the stolen vehicle.
A loss of 7,500 euros
He first explains to the investigators “that his 26-year-old wife was with him, that they sold the car on behalf of the real owner, who says he was the victim of the theft. The couple say they gave him the money and kept a small commission.
But on March 15, the couple was again taken into custody. It was then that he confessed his wrongdoing, that he vole the papers, the keys and the car.
Judges in immediate comparison
The judge decided to postpone the couple. “The 26-year-old woman did not participate in the theft and sale, but was still there. They pass in immediate comparison this Thursday, March 17. » The damage is €7,500 for the car.
