Toulouse. An anniversary season for Canoë Kayak Toulousain
The only canoe-kayak club in the Pink City will celebrate its 40th anniversary next summer. Until then, its athletes hope to shine in the various N1, N2 and N3 championships.
Nestled in the woods, overlooking the Garonne, this is where Canoë Kayak Toulousain has lived for forty years, the only club in the Pink City in this area. A peaceful existence in the heart of the city, on the island of Ramier, punctuated by the level of the Garonne on the basin of the arm of the Loge and the various competitions organized throughout the year.
At the time of passing the milestone of quarantine, the club has about 220 licensees for two thirds of adults and a third of young people. Not everyone is there to fight with the current of the Garonne since the club is just as well guided as the slalom. Those who crave competition are not left out at CKT, however. The club has four céistes in National 1, the highest division, selected to participate in the selections to wear the tricolor bib, and already rewarded among young people on the international scene. But also four other ceists in National 2 and a whole young guard well represented in National 3.
Lucas Roisin, the spearhead
The nugget of the club is Lucas Roisin, 23 years old. Third at the U23 European Championships in Slovakia in 2019, second at the U23 World Championships a few weeks later, the young céiste even wore the colors of his club during the qualifications for the Tokyo Olympics. Qualifications at the end of which he will finally rank fifth.
While waiting to see the four pieces of France shine again in National 1, last weekend the annual meeting of the Capitouls slalom (N3) on the white water basin of the CKT was presented.
An event bringing together more than 160 kayakers and céistes from all over the region, the opportunity for young and old to slalom and have fun in the icy water of the arms of the Lodge. A weather threatened by the wind, the sun finally returned in the afternoon to give way to a beautiful moment of canoeing. A great way to start this anniversary year for Canoë Kayak Toulousain before blowing out its forty candles in the summer.
