TGA | Allplan Austria develops a carbon footprint
Since sustainability in construction projects is also part of an economic framework, it is important to identify potential savings in the use of sustainable building material alternatives early in the construction and planning process. The added value of the project is the transparency of costs and CO2-footprint. Where no alternative building materials have been used so far, users from the “CO2-Footprint” the savings potential through the use of alternatives and the associated cost differences.
The considerations began with an inquiry from a regional university about the possibility of CO2-implement loads. “This level of detail is not yet possible at the moment, since we at Allplan currently only use the material GWP values, but do not take into account the construction steps of, for example, concrete, formwork or delivery costs,” explains Ehrreich. With the GWP value, which is stored by various pieces of information, the costs of a component are related to its CO2-Load compared. In this way, any existing material alternatives can be made more transparent.
