Julia ‘s trip from Ukraine: she calls it a moment when a Lithuanian offered help Names
Here the Ukrainian family is already starting a new life. Its March TV viewers can be seen on the 25th. LNK’s press release will be written in the evening in support of Ukraine at the concert “Save the Children”, during which support for Ukrainian children will be collected.
On the eve of the war, he was convinced that he would not be
“We got acquainted with Julia’s family on the first day of the refugee work registration center in Alytus. I went to help the team. We finished creating a safe environment for the kids when I saw a very tired couple with five kids in the doorway.
I realized that there was no time to wait for them to find and be assigned a temporary home – with the help of the volunteer Donatas, who brought them to Lithuania, we all returned to Vilnius. From the very first days of the war in Ukraine, support for this family has allowed them to experience for sure what the people who have escaped from it are feeling and how the children are feeling, ”says Rasa Dičpetrienė, the head of Save the Children.
The family who spent the first day in Rasa’s home in Lithuania lived in Bravorai, Kyiv region. Julia said that on the eve of the war on February 23, she drove to the city’s military center to distribute leaflets with information on how to proceed. Surprised, the person who shared them asked, “Why are you doing this? After all, there will be no war. ” He replied that there would be no backpacking for everything.
He returned home, fell asleep, and a few hours later two explosions, one after another, knocked him out of bed. Artyom ran to the balcony and returned to report that the war had still begun.
Hiding in the bushes during the attack – all his life passed through his eyes
Having gathered the children – the youngest Lazarus was not yet a year old, the little ones Apolinaria and Darija – 3 and 4, the older Mary, Sofia and Yevgeny – 7, 11 and 14, Julia and Artyom went to relatives in the nearby village. After spending a restless night here, they decided it would be safer to transport the children as far away from Kyjiv as possible. The eldest daughter, Yevgeny, was left with her grandmother and aunt, still doubting whether it was worth fleeing.
“We went home to pick up the documents, grabbed the rusks, water, diapers, food for Lazarus, and left, avoiding the main roads,” says Julia, having difficulty typing her words in the plot preparing for the concert.
At the Ukrainian-Polish border, leaving the car on the road, because the queue was 7-8 km long and would have had to wait more than a day to cross the border, the little one on his hands pulled to resume. In search of a machine to transport across the border, he had to flee into the woods a couple of times after hearing an air strike.
“I hear you are shooting, but you don’t understand where or why. Kneeling while running was overwhelmed because a lot of runners could be confused. Artyom carries Lazarus, 3-year-old Pole hard … Some man took her by the hand and carried her away.
And there are no more trees to hide behind, people with children stand everywhere. We fell behind the bush. I won’t tell you how long the attack lasted, not long, but my whole life was over my eyes, “Julia recalls.
After receiving Lithuanian help in Poland, he felt as if he was in a fairy tale
The driver of a bus that has agreed to transport a large family across the border only when they enter Poland is asked to get off because it cannot carry standing passengers.
Julia says: “I got out … at night … I don’t even understand where we … didn’t look around, the car stopped, the man got out, introduced himself to Andrius, asked if help was needed, said he could take me to Lithuania. I felt like we were in a fairy tale. “
A Lithuanian half-rented a room in a motel for a tired family.
“The children recovered, began to smile … Safe, calm … Such a contrast! From where we were, we go to paradise, ”says Julia.
The next day, Andrius was brought to the Alytus Refugee Center by the family of his friend Donatas, Julija and Artio, who had been invited to help from Lithuania, where Rasa, the head of Save the Children, met them and took them to Vilnius late in the evening.
The very next day, the “Strong Together” volunteers offered the family housing, helping Artiom to return to Poland to escape from Ukraine’s eldest daughter and Artiom’s sister. The community of active mothers www.motherhoodissexy.com provided little Lazarus with essentials, a private Family Kindergarten welcomed the little girls and promised free care and feeding. The girls are already attending kindergarten, the older ones are attending school.
