LGV Bordeaux-Toulouse, hospital in Montauban, marine wind power on the program of Jean Castex’s visit to Occitania
Prime Minister Jean Castex will travel to Haute-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne and Aude on Monday March 14. On the menu: the files of the Bordeaux-Toulouse High Speed Line, the new hospital in Montauban and the question of offshore wind power in Port-la-Nouvelle (Aude).
Since the end of 2021, Jean Castex has been increasing his visits to Occitania. Last February, the Prime Minister came to inaugurate the Gimont bypass in the Gers. This time, the head of government arrives with three files under his arm for this new trip to the region, Monday, March 14.
Bordeaux-Toulouse high-speed line
The deadline had been set before the end of March, on the eve of the presidential election. Despite difficulties in completing the financing of the Grand Projet du Sud-Ouest – local authorities refusing to put their hands in their pockets – Jean Castex comes to Toulouse to sign the budgetary component of this “structuring” project for the government for a total amount of 14.3 billion euros.
The Prime Minister will also take the opportunity to announce a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a new interchange on the A62 on the town of Lacourt-Saint-Pierre (Tarn-et-Garonne). The stated objective is to decongest the Montauban Sud toll, a veritable funnel on the Bordeaux-Toulouse road axis. The cost of the project amounts to 34 million euros
New Montauban hospital
After Toulouse, direction Montauban for the Prime Minister. Jean Castex will present the details of the construction project for the new hospital, registered in the Ségur de la santé. The future hospital establishment, presented at 450 million euros, should have 450 to 500 beds, by 2029-2030. One outstanding point remains: that of the site of this project. Land belonging to the urban community, established at a place called “Bardonis”, south of Montauban, could accommodate this new hospital, but the question continues to be debated.
Offshore wind farm in Port-la-Nouvelle
Last file of the day, Port-la-Nouvelle in L’Aude. Accompanied by Barbara Pompili, Minister for the Ecological Transition, the Prime Minister presents the port infrastructure extension projects. The issue of floating wind project areas in the Mediterranean will also be discussed.
