The essential: Your last show in Luxembourg, last summer in Mondorf, made an impression. A good memory ?
Selah Sue: I remember this concert well, I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was excellent, the fact of finding the public, without the masks, it was crazy. We found again this feeling of unity which had been so lacking to us, the previous months.
How did you experience the tour that followed?
Very well, I was happy to be able to do concerts between two phases of the pandemic. Everything was open again, it was summer and the weather was nice. We had a great summer adventure, to which I was also able to invite my children. When I found the scene, I understood what I had missed.
Will you be with the same musicians as last summer?
Yes, it’s our new group, with three singers who are real queens, a multi-instrumentalist drummer, a bass player who is one of the best in Belgium. And the guitarist, when you close your eyes, it looks like Prince. And there’s the keyboard player, who helped me compose the record. We are in love with each other on stage, I’m so proud of it.
You said last year that you were a little apprehensive about having to get out of your bubble.
For me, the confinement had gone very well. I am aware of being privileged because I have a big house and no stress related to money. It was refreshing to be home with my family. But when I found the scene, I understood what I had missed.
It starts in Luxembourg, do you feel at home there?
Yes, it goes very well every time here. It’s a bit like in Switzerland, the people are welcoming and you feel at home. I am very happy to start the tour in Luxembourg.
