Russian language of the era of zeroing
“Keep in mind that the form of Russian speech cast in the presence and actions of the military nullifies the place of the Russian language and the Russian world in modern history. What is being done today in the name of Russia has irreparably changed the world around us.” A column by philologist Gasan Huseynov about the future of the Russian language and the fate of those “who could not, did not want, were afraid of their language from the KGB lies.”
So far, what the Russian Federation started on February 24, 2022, does not have a generally accepted name. In the European press, the attack on Ukraine is called “Putin’s war”, or “Ukrainian war of the Kremlin”, or “Russia’s war with Ukraine”. In the Russian Federation itself, the word “war” is prohibited, and officially Putin’s name “special military operation” flaunts even on the foreheads of relatively independent Russian media. So most of the population is gradually adapting to the new.
But those who remember that it is old are also alive. Before the appearance in the 1980s in the USSR, there was no access to any foreign newspapers, much less to foreign TV, or to foreign radio broadcasting on the territory of the peoples of the USSR, which was drowned out by state stations, where the entire territory from the ex-Prussian Kaliningrad to the ex- -Japanese Sakhalin.
Now it is still difficult to completely caulk the ether. Especially in the active army of Ukraine in the territory where there is free Internet. Will the commanders themselves stand to watch and listen to what the world is saying about them? Judging by the speeches of Russian prisoners of war, soldiers and commanders, it was difficult for him to speak a common language, to whom they were ordered to invade, and the one that the free world speaks in Russian.
► Language will bring to Kyiv
In the language of the military they say “brought it to the personnel”, or simply “brought it”, in the language of normal people they say “given a criminal order.” In Russian, the military has to ask for forgiveness from the Ukrainians for the death of people and the destruction of cities and villages. In English, the prisoners ask their command and leadership of Russia to consume this war. It can be seen and heard that the prisoners themselves do not believe in these cases. And yet they, these needy, have little influence on those who are already in Ukraine.
such interviews and press conferences getting bigger every day. So much so that people who are accustomed to Russian bombing propaganda have a mass character: “Isn’t all this staged?” Here is how they write about this paradox on Russian-language forums:
“Who is not quite ovatnel, maybe they will think at least a drop. then about a fierce decree, thoughts even crept into my mind, and I’m still that noble anti-war liberal.”
Nick “Sector” answers “Village Month”:
“When Putin’s dog believes about a crucified boy on TV, you think about staging, you have brain infection. Therefore, everyone who can understand that this is a decision, they are already against the war. But those who, instead of a head, have only revelations from TV, they do not redeem resolutions, for them it is necessary to simply and clearly repeat the same thing 10 thousand times in order to get it. Preferably with all irons and drawers.”
The conversation is conducted in Ukraine in Russian, the native language for the writers. Obviously, all of them also speak the literary language, but a foreigner studying Russian will definitely stumble over the use of the words of popular places: “liberakha”, “shut down”, “redeemed”, “decree”. This special vocabulary was formed from the old (“redeemed” in the sense of “figure out”, “understand”) and new words suitable for the atmosphere of general lies in which the modern “Russian world” of Putin and his “deep people” live. Discussing the consequences of the war, Russian-speaking neighbors use the analysis of verbal filth.
Here, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Turchak meets on February 23, 2022 with the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, in the recent past – the discovery of the MMM pyramid in Donetsk. The politician says: “They put it in a square: And what did we do? We have imposed on their support. The speaker admits a stylistic error in the last words of his flattery: in the first two cases, he “imposes in his pants” and “imposes a sentence” all the words in place. But in the previous case, it would be more accurate to “put”. But the toilet seat with which Turchak broadcasts does not tolerate such subtleties.
The content and format of Russian speech, canceled in military operations and actions, nullify the place of the Russian language and the Russian world in modern history. What is being done today in the name of Russia has irreparably changed the world around us.
Putin said that Ukrainians do not exist, there are only Russians who urgently need to be kept from unstable Ukrainians.
At these words, many Europeans shivered. After all, if there are no Ukrainians, are there Czechs and Slovaks, Poles and Bulgarians? What if they have some kind of artificial statehood?
And if the Ukrainian language is just a rural dialect of the Russian language, “without its great literature, like the Russians” (the general opinion of Joseph Brodsky), then what should speakers of other Slavic languages think?
It turns out that the aggression of the Russian Federation against is really the aggression of the Russian state against the Ukrainian state, the aggression of Russian speakers against Ukrainian speakers?
On February 24, 2022, the former attitude of the world in the East and West towards the Russian Federation as the heir to the USSR was also reset. It turned out that in the socio-political situation in Europe (and Asia as well), the current aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine is not from the war for the Soviet inheritance, but a new round of all previous wars between Russia and the outside world. The Swedes remember Poltava, the Finns remember the Winter War, the Iranians remember the Red Army’s invasion of Iran in 1941, the Poles remember all partitions of Poland and September 1939, the Hungarians remember 1956, the Czechs remember 1968, the French remember the capture of Paris by Russian troops in 1814, and the Georgians remember not only 2008, but also 1801. And even the Germans are no longer 1945, but 1953 – the suppression of the uprising in the GDR.
Resetting the Russian language as a state language, resetting ties with state universities will help another East Slavic language – Ukrainian. Until now, this language has not been particularly prominent on the academic base. Let many people increase their native language from Ukraine – Russian, but in German schools, for example, where schoolchildren from Ukraine are now invited, they will be offered to learn Ukrainian as their native language.
In the departments of Slavic studies in all universities of the world, where the language of Pushkin and Dostoevsky usually dominates, Russian will have to make room, giving more space to Ukrainian. And even Gogol to start reading differently than before. Interested in learning the Ukrainian language and many Russians, who currently generally do not know any other Slavic language other than their native language.
Western science takes into account many mistakes of the past and will ask itself whether all the Slavists of the world were not in vain wasting time on the love affair between Akhmatova and Brodsky? Wouldn’t it be better now to focus on learning the language of Stalin and Putin? Will the Russian language begin to be cleansed of the acquisition of Chekist lies – from nurseries to universities? There are no answers to these and similar questions yet.
The Russian language of the era of zeroing is still fleeing from its rapists in Tashkent and Osh, in Yerevan and Tbilisi, in Riga and Tallinn. In Istanbul, which exactly a hundred years ago was already a transit base for those who went “not into exile, but into a mission.” But now, as then, is it not an illusion – is it a “message”? Many Russians love themselves as the owners of the “Kalabukhov House” – native speakers of the language of Chekhov and Tolstoy. But do you tremble before the shadows that gave you this language? Do you realize that between your slavish power, fear of the club of a policeman and the Russian word of Tolstoy and Chekhov, there is that very abyss that deprives you of any rights to this long-gone culture? Those who could not, did not show feelings, felt their tongue from the KGB footcloth, did not wait for sympathy from the free world. Pity and alms are our lot.
