McDonald’s pays its employees in Ukraine despite the closure!
McDonald’s closes its restaurants in Ukraine, but continues to pay employees! A way to support them in the midst of the Russian invasion.
As Russia invaded Ukraine, McDonald’s (unsurprisingly) showed some leaning. The firm has decided to close its fast food outlets in Russia… while retaining the salaries of its Ukrainian employees. MCETV tells you more!
Such a commercial war
Because the Ukraine, pounded by the Russian air force, is almost no more stores. In painthe firms therefore close one by one as Vladimir Putin’s army seems to be closing in on Kiev every day. But some are trying to help.
Thus, McDonald’s has decided to close all its restaurants in Russia. A decision that caused a wave of arrivals at the entrance to fast food outlets, where the Russians were hoping for one last burger. Some have even ended up at auction on the net…
And if the American firm decides on retaliatory measures on one side, it is to better help Ukraine. Thus, the company had no choice but to close its 108 restaurants across the overrun country. For several reasons.
First, because the country is under bombs. Then, because more than 2.5 million people fled when all young men had to enlist in the army to defend the country. And finally because McDonald’s couldn’t have stock up.
So here are 108 fast food restaurants closed… But there is no question of leaving millions of employees out of business. The burger giant has sent a letter to all its employees in Ukraine to support them. And also to assure them of his financial assistance.

McDonald’s: salaries maintained for all
“We continue to pay all salaries of our employees Ukrainians”, promises Chris Zempczinski, American CEO of the brand. But no question of stopping there. Salaries are maintained, but help is coming.
” We donated $5 million to our Employee Assistance Fund », also announces the general manager. With this money, McDonald’s has succeeded in demonstrating its support for Ukraine. And help the war effort.
Auto some employees may have fled the country. Others have probably joined the ranks of the army to defend themselves against the Russian invasion… And in the midst of all this, the American company is trying to help with the levers it can master.
“We continue to support the relief efforts led by the Red Cross international in the region, finally promised the CEO of McDonald’s. A nice show of support. But maybe not the strongest.
The CEO adds that its a mark “crushed by offers of support through the system. We thank you for your generous contributions to date. » In other words, employees insisted on help their colleagues in danger in Ukraine.
This is the gesture of the firm in the midst of war. The restaurants have certainly had to close by force of circumstance. But the burger giant tries to show solidarity of its employees in mortal danger. A nice testimony of humanity and empathy towards an invaded country.
