Marco Rubio stood by Hungary and Poland – Neokohn
Florida Senator Marco Rubio criticized the European Union’s rule of law measures against Hungary and Poland in the midst of the war in Ukraine on Twitter.
“Poland receives millions and Hungary hundreds of thousands of refugees fleeing the crimes of totalitarian war”
The influential Republican politician said in his Twitter post.
In the microblogging, Rubio recalled that the European Union considers it appropriate to withhold funds at the moment when these two countries receive millions of Ukrainian refugees, citing the rule of law.
“For some reason, the EU thinks now is the best time to impose a financial penalty on them for not meeting democracy as defined by them.”
Rubio wrote.
The Florida senator attached to the post the February report by the BBC’s British media service provider that the EU Court of Justice had rejected Poland and Hungary’s action against the rule of law mechanism.
