Princess Charlene returns to Monaco after several months of absence
She is back. Princess Charlene of Monaco, long absent from the Rock for health problems, “has just returned to Monaco”, the prince’s palace announced in a press release on Saturday. “In agreement with her doctors and while her recovery is on the right track, their Serene Highnesses have agreed that Princess Charlene can now continue her convalescence in the Principality, with her husband and her children”, explained the palace.
“The weeks should allow him to fully recover so that he can gradually resume his official activities,” the palace continues. In order to “facilitate her full recovery”, the princess still needs “calm and serenity”.
On November 23, a source close to the Palace had indicated that the former Olympic swimmer had been admitted “to a specialized establishment following great fatigue linked to her weakness”, an establishment located in Switzerland, according to concordant sources. A month later, a press release from the prince’s palace had then specified that the recovery of the princess “should still take a few months”.
many absences
Absent on November 16 at a parcel delivery ceremony of the Monaco Red Cross in which she was expected to participate, after her return from South Africa, the princess had also remained invisible during the Monegasque national holiday for three days more late.
That day, Crown Prince Jacques of Monaco and his twin sister Gabriella, 6, appeared on the balcony of the prince’s palace brandishing messages of affection for their mother Charlene, who was absent from the celebrations. “We love you mom” was written on a large white paper held up by Prince Jacques. “We miss you mum (we miss you, mum)”, added the second message carried by princess Gabriella.
The wife of Prince Albert of Monaco, 43, returned on November 8 from South Africa, the country where she grew up and of which she is a national. She had undergone surgery there under general anesthesia at the beginning of October, the last of a series of interventions decided following an otolaryngological infection.
An absence deciphered by the celebrity press
Her last public appearance with Albert in Monaco dates back to January 2021. On August 25, she posted photos on Instagram with her husband and children.
The international people press had recently revived speculation about a divorce or separation of the princely couple, fueled by the prolonged absence of the princess on the Rock. The ten years of marriage of the couple could not be celebrated in July in the Principality because of this absence.
