Dozens are Bulgaria’s possible opponents for the Davis Cup
The draw on March 24 will determine the rival of the tennis nationals in the World Group II in the fall
One dozen are Bulgaria’s possible rivals in World Group II for the Davis Cup – the World Team Tennis Championship for men. Our national team qualified for the real phase of the competition in the second level of the tournament, beating Paraguay by 3-1 in the home playoffs in the capital’s Sofia Hall at the end of the week (March 4-5).
The success sends the Bulgarian team forward in World Group II and in the fall our tennis players will play for a place in the playoffs of World Group I in 2023. The next match of the national team will be on 16-17 or 17-18 September 2022, and the opponent will be determined by lot on March 24.
This phase will involve a total of 24 teams, which will be opposed in 12 pairs. The distribution in the two ballot boxes will be made according to the Davis Cup world rankings. In her country, she currently ranks 59th, which places her among the unpopular.
And the fact that the opponent will be withdrawn from the 12 added: Uzbekistan (№31), Uruguay (№41), Lebanon (№42), Lithuania (№43), Bolivia (№44), Taiwan (№46), Slovenia (№47), Tunisia (№48), Denmark (№49), Poland (№50), South Africa (№51) and Barbados (№52).
Apart from Bulgaria, the Dominican Republic (№53), Hong Kong (№54), El Salvador (№55), Estonia (№56), Latvia (№57), Greece (№57), Greece (№58), Egypt (№60) are also in the group. ), Indonesia (№61), Monaco (№62) and Ireland (№63). However, there is not a single team in this dozen, as it must be Belarus (№76). The country has been suspended from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for allied action with Russia in the military invasion of Ukraine, and it is not yet clear if it will take its place in the draw.

Of all of them, our national team defeated only the Tunisians (3-0 at the mini-tournament in San Marino in May 1995) and the Poles (3-2 in Sofia in May 1993).
