Annecy. An alpine hunter from the 27th BCA wants to travel 770 kilometers to make hospitalized children smile
He is about to travel 770 kilometers on foot. Bastien Fleury sets off this Saturday March 12 from the Spanish border, starting his adventure from Cerbère, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Alpine hunter at 27and BCA d’Annecy, he wants to reach Menton and the Italian border in two weeks, at the rate of 35 to 76 km of running each day depending on the elevation. It will thus run along the entire Mediterranean coast.
The sporting achievement, Bastien Fleury is a regular. For three years, he has been performing performances. By bike, he linked Dunkirk to Biarritz in 2020. Then it was by paddle that he paddled from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean in 2021.
This year, his adventure, he leads it with the ambition to wear the colors of an association: Le Rire Médecin. By visiting 85,000 children a year, the clowns and volunteers aim to entertain, support and listen to the youngest hospitalized in some 55 pediatric wards in France. The physical effort of the Annecy is a way of giving visibility to this association.
“After having defended several causes that were close to my heart, first animal abuse, then the pollution of the marine environment, I looked for an association in connection with children in need, explains Bastien Fleury. I thought of associations that send children on vacation and I finally turned to the hospital environment. When I met a person in charge of Le Rire Médecin, his speech really touched me, with the solidarity that reigns, the dedication of the clowns of the association, who sometimes make children smile again to the detriment of theirs. I did not hesitate for a second! »
After twelve days of running and possibly two days of rest, depending on fatigue and weather conditions, Bastien Fleury hopes to arrive on March 26 in Menton, in the Alpes-Maritimes.
