an association calls on hosts to open their accommodation to Ukrainians
WAR IN UKRAINE – Sophie Mazet, president of the Toulouse Métropole hosts association, calls on people with properties to rent to make them available to Ukrainian refugees via a platform created by Airbnb. The Independent Opinion interviewed her.
Why this call for mobilization?
We support this action driven by Airbnb because we believe we can be useful at our small level and participate in this momentum of solidarity through our accommodation.
How to participate ?
Airbnb launched the platform Airbnb.org which has already proven itself during the Covid-19, since housing was put available to caregivers. They repeated this operation for the Afghan refugeesand now for the Ukrainian people. All you have to do is register your accommodation on the platform. If you’re already on Airbnb, it takes less than a minute, it’s very simple. You can also offer accommodation or part of your accommodation without being registered on the platform. You should know that there is the host guarantee, in case of damage damage is covered.
Have Toulouse residents already made their accommodation available?
Exactly, there is already about thirty apartments in Toulouse that are proposed and I have quite a few people who contact me to ask me for details.
Can Airbnb users participate in any way?
First of all, it is possible to make a donation if you don’t have an apartment to make available. Then there are several people who have taken it upon themselves to book accommodation in Ukraine to send them money. It’s part of the Airbnb community’s drive to win, but it wasn’t set up by the platform. We still have to be careful because we don’t know if the banks are blocked or not. Personally, I think thatit is better to go through associative actions.
