The announcement of the Russian army this morning will not open humanitarian corridors to Hungary
A pledge of ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors for the departure of civilians and foreign nationals at five o’clock Central European time on Tuesday morning at five besieged Ukrainian cities – Kiev, Chernivtsi, Kharkiv, Sumy and Mariupol – were promised.
Major General Igor Konasenkov, a spokesman for the ministry, announced that routes to escape had been opened.
From Kiev and Chernivtsi, one corridor leads to Belarus and Russia, and from Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy to Ukraine and Russia. In addition to the Ukrainian government, the Russian side has given advance notice of its intention to open humanitarian corridors to the relevant bodies of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as several embassies and other international organizations.
According to the HCLU news agency, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk, head of the ministry for the reintegration of areas not controlled by Kyiv, has announced that Kyiv has completed an evacuation route from Sumy to Poltava. He said Indian and Chinese students will leave the city in addition to locals.
