SVT released Running Order for the Melodifestivalen final! – escYOUnited
Stockholm, March 7, 2022
A quick update about Sweden: SVT has released the schedule for the upcoming final of the Melodifestivalen. Sweden was the first country to implement a producer-decided running order in its national final, which (like many Melodifestivalen concepts) eventually also made its way into the actual Eurovision. These running orders are officially designed to make the competition more exciting and ensure that there is variation between each subsequent act. In practice, they also state which contributions SVT believes will win.
The running schedule for next Saturday’s final is as follows:
As you can see, Cornelia Jakobs and LIAMOO has got the best seats, near the end but not directly at the end. Anders Bagge, which currently leads the odds have ended up somewhere in the middle. The party songs of Klara Hammarström and MEDINA will open and close the show respectively while the Swedish-language songs pass by THEOZ and John Lundvik has been given unlucky places in the driving order.
Of course, these rankings are not indicative of the actual results, but they seem to suggest that Cornelia or Liamoo are the preferred or expected winners here.
Sweden is currently in third place in the odds of winning. The Nordic nation boasts six impressive victories in Eurovision, including the pop sensations ABBA and the EDM icon Loreen. Their latest victory came in 2015 when Måns Zelmerlöw beat Russia and Italy with his song “Heroes”.
Sweden will compete in second half of the second semifinal on May 12, where they will face the likes of Estonia, Belgium and Ireland. Last year, Sweden did one of its own least good results for a while, with Tusse placed 14th overall with his song “Voices”.
