During the 27th day of Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-0 against OGC Nice, and since Olympique de Marseille also lost 0-1 against AS Monaco, it was ultimately the Nice who finds himself in 2nd place, 13 points behind the Parisians.
Results of the day and current standings.
PSG and OM defeated by Nice and Monaco
It was an important day for the podium with 2 big posters: first PSG/Nice, then Marseille/Monaco. The Parisians were again sorely lacking in creativity against Christophe Galtier’s team, a sad habit. With a little efficiency, Nice ends up taking the 3 points. PSG still keep 13 points ahead of the 2nd so there is no concern on this side, but it is not the best way to approach the return match against Real Madrid for the League Champions.
The Marseillais could have taken advantage of this new Parisian misstep but, at home, they lacked success against effective Monegasques. With this defeat, OM find themselves 3rd, 2 points behind Nice and only 1 point ahead of Rennes. The Rennais are also the best team of the moment with 3 wins in a row.
As a reminder, in Europe:
the PSG and the LOSC both come out of their Champions League pool, with two big opponents in the round of 16: Real Madrid for PSG and Chelsea for Lille. PSG came out of their first leg brilliantly (1-0 victory) and are playing the return leg on Wednesday, Lille suffered against Chelsea with a 2-0 defeat and are playing the return leg in 10 days.
In the Europa League, Lyons will be against Porto in the round of 16 and monaco will also go to Portugal to face Braga. For the Europa League Conference, OM will receive FC Basel after their victory in the play-offs against Qarabag, while Rennes will travel to England to face Leicester. All these matches will take place on Thursday March 10, the same week as Real/PSG.
