Toulouse: with this book, Claire Seiller shares her solutions for better consumption
Co-founder of the blog “C. l’air du temps”, Toulouse native Claire Seiller has released a book on responsible consumption.
The Toulousian Claire Seiller co-founded, with her sister, the blog “C. l’air du temps”, in 2016, when her daughter was born. Since then, she has also become the mother of a 1-year-old boy and has just released a book called “Ecomarché, the guide to responsible consumption”. In this book, Claire Seiller examines 100 everyday products “to encourage consumers to replace them. It’s an extension of my blog”, announces the author.
It was therefore precisely when her daughter was born that Claire Seiler questioned her consumption patterns and turned to more eco-responsible practices. “That’s when my ecological conscience kicked in and it was quite violent. I was quite extreme in my behavioral changes,” admits Claire Seiller. Also the arrival of her second child fits “in a more peaceful context in terms of my approach”, since things have been settled for a while. »
In this very practical book, the Toulousaine addresses all the themes of daily life, namely: hygiene, care and beauty; maintenance of the house as well as cooking and food. “The idea was to browse the shelves of a supermarket and say no to industrial products, both for the environment, health and the wallet, and to favor more responsible alternatives”, continues Claire Seiller.
Of the 100 products selected by the author, two pages are devoted to each. The one on the left highlights the wrongdoings, while the one on the right offers more virtuous solutions to replace them. “Too often, people are asked to change their behavior but without telling them why and how. The book is there to help them,” continues the author.
If we take the case of the degreasing spray (p115), “very aggressive for the skin and the eyes, whose acids are difficult to eliminate in waste water”, there are homemade solutions to manufacture the same product, in addition natural. To do this, simply mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda, 4 tablespoons of black soap and 2 tablespoons of green or white clay. And voila for similar efficiency. This guide also gives solutions for purifying tap water, making lip balm, candying sodas, spreads, pie dough… This catalog of ideas is for anyone who wants to consume better, without having resources or tools. “So that they become their own guides and judges and more informed consumers”, concluded Claire Seiller.
