Snow showers and storms keep Austria freezing – weather
In the coming days, there will be plenty of sun for the country, but due to strong wind and snow showers, the temperature will remain icy for the time being.
Sunday begins along the northern Alps, but also in the southern basins with high fog fields that loosen up a bit during the day. After a frequent sunny start, some clouds will spread in the Danube region during the day. However, it remains largely dry, from the Silvretta to the Tauern, as well as in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia, the sun continues to shine widely. The wind will blow light to moderate from the northeast and the highs will be between 1 and 8 degrees.
A few snow showers
On Monday, clouds will predominate in the eastern half and towards the evening a few snowflakes will fall from the Waldviertel and Mostviertel to Mariazellerland, but mostly it will remain dry. The sun often shines from Vorarlberg to Salzburg and Carinthia, local areas of fog and high fog clear in the morning. In the east, brisk winds blow from northerly directions. Temperatures reach 0 to +9 degrees, with the highest values in the southwest.
Tuesday will continue to bring compact clouds on the north side of the Alps and in the east, but the sun will also appear at least away from the mountains. Only in the Waldviertel and Mostviertel will it remain mostly cloudy with a few snow showers. From the Silvretta to the Graz Basin, on the other hand, the sun is dominant. With a moderate wind from the north to north-east, which is still brisk on the eastern edge of the Alps, the maximum values are between 1 and 10 degrees, depending on the sun.
It won’t be a little friendlier until Wednesday
On Wednesday, sunshine will dominate in the west and from the Innviertel and Salzburger Land over the Tauern to Carinthia. Approximately east of Linz and Graz, compact clouds will pass through again and again, but it will mostly remain dry. With a moderate north wind, temperatures will rise to between 1 and 11 degrees.
