Rock hard numbers: Haarlem is the most petrified city in the Netherlands

In the research published in February 2022, the availability of at least 75 square meters of green space per home in the 32 largest municipalities in our country will be examined. Everything that is not petrified is counted as green, such as parks, lawns, roadsides and water. in the Note Space from 2004, including the national government, this area per the minimum lower limit of the amount of greenery in a district. Well, according to the research there is very little green in Haarlem. Let’s talk numbers: in Haarlem 78 neighborhoods were studied. At least five hundred Haarlem residents live in these neighbourhoods. Of those 78 neighbourhoods, 65 do not meet the minimum lower limit of 75 square meters of green space per home. That is one percent of the number of neighborhoods, making Haarlem the most fossilized city in the Netherlands.
