Italy invites itself to the Halle aux Grains
On Saturday March 5, 2022, the Orchester National du Capitole is devoting its Happy Hour concert to Italy at the Halle aux Grains. Chinese conductor Tiany Lu pays tribute to Italian composer, Ottorino Respighi.
A trip to Rome with the Capitoline National Orchestra and the works of Ottorino Respighi. This Saturday March 5 at 6 p.m.the melodies of the Italian composer will resonate within the walls of the grain market. Under the direction of Chinese conductor Tiany Lu, the Toulouse orchestra performs three Italian works.
The orchestra will be completed by Julien Martineau on mandolin
On the program of this concert: two parts of the triptych by Ottorino Respighi and a concerto for mandolin by Raffaele Calace. The conductor Tiany Lu pays tribute to the Italian composer by performing the first two parts of the orchestral triptych distributed in Rome. Ottorino Respighi is part of the “dell’Ottanta” generation. It is a group of Italian composers “born around the 1880s who, in an Italy in search of national unity, sought to renovate symphonic music”, as the newspaper of the Theater and the Orchester national du Capitole.
The composer devotes his works to Italian glory. The first two parts have the following names: Fontane di Roma (Fountains of Rome) and Pini di Roma (Pines of Rome). The newspaper explains that in these two works, “the composer brings together memories of a past Rome, from the enchanting Villa Medici to the dark catacombs haunted by the memory of the first Christians…”.
the Mandolin Concerto No. 1 by Raffaele Calace is also on the program for the evening. Still under the baton of Tiany Lu, the Orchester National du Capitole and the mandolinist, Julien Martineau, will share the stage.
