How is 5G coverage in Portugal? This map shows you everything
Mobile communications are increasingly important for modern life, be it in peacetime, or even in a conflict as we are witnessing. It is possible that we do not know in our locality what type of mobile network coverage we have, not to mention other parts of the country. But… when it comes to 5G, how are we here?
This platform, which has been detailed for a few years, shows us the service provided in terms of the mobile network signal.
There is a lot of talk about 5G in Portugal and in many places 4G still doesn't exist. However, the operators' efforts to bring the "new mobile network" to the efforts of the Portuguese should be noted.
Do you want to know if your street, town or county has mobile network signal quality and what it offers? Then meet nPerf. This is a tool that, with a simple and intuitive design, allows you to verify, with an incredible level of service, the service provided by some of the main communications operators in the country.
How it works?
The mechanism is very simple. At the top it includes a bar with four tabs.
In the first you must specify the country, in the second the operator you want to inquire about and in the remaining two you must indicate whether you are interested in the coverage network or reception speeds.
The first data you must select for the map to show the data is a supplier company. This map can be shown in classic mode or satellite mode.
As per the counter, the nPerf platform only offers data from Vodafone, MEO, and NOS. With the operator marked, you can control the details on the map.
Street to street, city to city, what "mobile internet" is available?
The service identifies the coverage network with five cores. Blue corresponds to 2G, green to 3G, orange to 4G, red to 4G+ and purple to 5G.
When looking for your street or the place where you want to go on vacation, for example, it can be marked as a specific type of service par excellence.
The great advantage of nPerf is that it allows comparison options. In addition to being able to see the service provided by the company you hired for your service, also check what other operators can support.
The data corresponding to the surveys of users of Perf, a site that offers speed tests for ADSL, VDSL, cable, fiber and satellite.
In fact, if you look at the lower left corner of the map, a toolbox will detail the number of areas in the data appearance, since the day and each, when and the last update data, including the last update data.
Applications are made by us. If you want to participate, just download an nPerf app to your smartphone.
The more data, the more complete the maps will be. nPerf refers to coverage data that is automatically updated every fifteen minutes.
The tool also allows you to download coverage data or test in CSV format.
And how is 5G in Portugal?
As we know, Portugal started implementing 5G behind all European countries. However, operators have already started to make this new technology available in some areas of the country.
As we can see on the map, the Lisbon area and a little along the coast already have coverage, but still far from the coverage we see in other European countries.
The promises tell us that 5G brings a whole new reality: it will be capable of a thousand times more traffic than current networks and a speed 10 times faster than 4G.
