OM: commentary Sampaoli is preparing for the clash against Monaco – Interview
Before hosting Monaco, what concretely have you been working on lately?
Jorge Sampaoli (in French!): “This week the team worked a lot on the attack. We tried to have the lines tighter to hope that the block presses the opponent a lot with and without the ball, all the time. I consider that the team is aware that on Sunday they need the support of the public on the pitch to try to win the game against Monaco. All the things we are working on is to win on Sunday. I hope the team will be very aggressive against Monaco to win. We worked all week for that.”
After bad matches against Clermont and Troyes, are you worried before OM-Monaco?
JS: “It’s a very important game for us. Monaco are a great team, they were prepared for the C1, with a very good budget. They had a very good base last year, they improved, they succeeded to have a good season last year. Our reality is knowing where we are, but it’s not a decisive game either. It’s an important game, we will have to be up to a opponent who will be very strong to win this match. I think that Monaco will be part of the fight to be among the best teams until the end, as it has been the case lately. I do not see this match as a decisive match, as the last opportunity for us concerning our objective, because we will still have a lot of games to try to be at the level of the teams which will be better than us, because they are more consolidated than us who have a still very young project.
