I’Antonov An-225 mriya (meaning “the dream” in Ukrainian) will no longer fly. The largest plane in the world was badly hit during the clashes between Russians and Ukrainians on Hostelel airport (Ukraine), north of Kiev, Sunday February 27, 2022.
If the Ukrainian manufacturer wants to wait for the inspection of experts before definitively condemning the device, the images revealed on Thursday March 3 may leave no doubts…
A giant of the air
Before knowing this disastrous fate, this plane, 84 m long, 88.4 m wide and 18.1 m high, was used to transport military cargo.
With its 32 wheels and 285 tons empty, this giant of the air built at the end of the 80s impressed wherever it traveled. This was the case twice, Toulouse.
He landed twice in Toulouse
The An-225’s first stopover in Toulouse dates back to November 29, 2007. At the time, Le Figaro explained that the aircraft was landing in the Pink City to take delivery of a military helicopter.
The one who could carry up to 600 tons of cargo returned nearly seven years later, in 2014, to Toulouse. The landing had been filmed by an enthusiast.
Its last visit to France dates from 2020. The huge plane landed at the airport of Chateauroux (Indre) for a technical stopover, reported our colleagues from France Blue.
