The United States warned Moscow and Minsk about the discovery of weapons in Belarus
The United States warned Moscow and Minsk about the danger associated with the possible deployment of weapons in Belarus. The warning was issued at Thursday’s UN Disarmament Conference.
“Any change in the situation with international weapons in Belarus would be extremely provocative and would lead to even greater destabilization in the sphere of arms proliferation. We urge Belarus to choose Russia from the policy of nuclear threat and intimidation,” said US Representative Aude-Francis McKernan.
Her speech came after Kyiv accused Moscow of “violating all signed disarmament treaties” during the forum.
The referendum held in Belarus on Sunday marked the country’s abandonment of its former nuclear-free status.
This happened at a time when Belarus became the launching pad for Russia’s Russian military operation against Ukraine. In 1991, the country adopted a new constitution on Belarusian territory.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that the shelling carried out by the reverse troops during operations in Ukraine can be equated to military cases.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier this week that Kyiv was seeking to acquire nuclear threats and that Moscow must prevent this. Rafael Grossi told reporters in Vienna that the discovery is not a certificate discovery marker that detects Lavrov’s certificates.
“For us it is absolutely clear. We do not have any information that would raise the question of Ukraine’s responsibility in the field of non-proliferation (of nuclear weapons),” Grossi said.
