San Marino cellist Francesco Stefanelli enchants the Rossini Theater in Pesaro
Rossini from Pesaro applauds and gets excited for the young emerging talent of the Republic of San Marino Francesco Stefanelli on stage with his Duo.
Sunday 27 February at 6 pm the Rossini Theater in Pesaro on the occasion of the celebrations of the Rossini weeks 2022 with a concert tribute to Gioachino Rossini saw a musical performance of absolute rarity go on stage with great public success. The protagonists on the stage of the Teatro Sperimentale were two young and talented musicians: the San Marino cellist Francis Stefanelli and the young pianist helium Cecino.
The audience applauded with fervor the extraordinary virtuosic abilities of the cellist Francesco Stefanelli.
In duo with the very young pianist Elia Cecino they proposed a repertoire of truly exquisite workmanship and elegance.
Two monumental works from the cell repertoire were performed, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata No. 3 Op.69 and Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata Op.19 in C major. The concert proposed by the duo was also intended to represent a significant tribute to Gioachino Rossini with the performance of two masterpieces: the Variations on Moses by Nicolò Paganini and the Variations on a Theme by Rossini by Bohuslav Martinů, the latter score never presented before!
Although very young – born in 1999 – Francesco Stefanelli, born and raised in San Marino, already boasts a curriculum of absolute prestige. Graduated at the age of 15 with full marks at the “Lettimi” Institute of Higher Education in Rimini, in 2012 he was admitted to attend the Chigiana Academy of Siena, obtaining the Diploma of Merit. He is the winner of numerous national and international competitions and has played as a soloist and with chamber music ensembles in various European cities: Prague, Cremona, Turin, Florence, Bologna, Ravenna, Imola, Zurich, Lugano, Lübeck, Edinburgh, Cologne. He collaborated with the Filarmonica della Scala and obtained the qualification as first cello of the Cherubini Orchestra of Ravenna conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti. He is currently studying at the Escuela Superior “Reina Sofia” in Madrid and at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome with Giovanni Sollima.
I am sure that in the future we will hear more of our Francesco Stefanelli to whom we wish him many wishes for his future artistic career and one more big applause of encouragement to both these two young emerging artists… and that Art and Beauty save the World!
