Despite the news strongly marked by the crisis between Ukraine and Russia, and the war taking place in this region of the world, in France, the presidential election is obviously on everyone’s mind.
Purchasing power, the number one priority
On the occasion of the vote, organized on Sundays April 10 and 24, 2022, the news site Toulouse News wanted to give you the floor in February 2022, via a questionnaire, on your priorities. Health, purchasing power, public services, security, industry, transport, justice… We take stock of your expectations.
For 25.8% of responses, priority is purchasing power, a trend that has been emerging for several weeks now, with in particular strong demands on wage increases, the increase in energy prices (fuel, gas, electricity, etc.) and the weight of housing. On this subject, a reader indicates for example that “the definition of the middle class needs to be reviewed! It is necessary to pay attention to families who have decent incomes but who pay the full pot while wages do not move or the little increase is taken by too high taxation! “.
Safety and the environment complete the podium
Behind, we find Security (16.9%), and our readers are mostly calling for “more resources” for police officers “in the field”.
In third place, the environment returned to your proposals and your aspirations (11.5%) with in particular the “promotion of thermal and sound insulation” of housing, “the increase in the production of renewable energies” and… “the reduction of our consumption energy”.
Social inequalities, immigration, health…
In fourth place are Social inequalities (8.1%). Attached bathroom immigration (7.8%) and health (7.5%), obviously a hot topic since the health crisis broke out in March 2020. The lack of doctors in certain territories is also causing a reaction. A reader thus proposes an “obligation” for the installation of doctors in the medical deserts “and to do like the civil servants: to appoint them where there is a lack of caregivers”.
Come next public services (6.1%) and education (4.1%). The other topics you mentioned are employment, transport, justice, housing, agriculture, community reform and animal protection.
