Siwertell road mobile unloader ordered for cement handling in Sweden
Bruks Siwertell has received an order from Swecem AB, a subsidiary of Peab Groups Swerock, for the next generation Siwertell road mobile ship unloader. It will ensure environmentally friendly, dust-free material handling for the Merit producer and cement buyer in the port of Helsingborg.
“Environmental protection is a key factor for Swecem’s operations and it follows very strict standards,” says Jörgen Ojeda, Sales Director Mobile Unloaders, Bruks Siwertell. With this in mind, Swecem was looking for a ship unloading solution that could deliver continuously high throughput capacity, but at the same time ensure closed handling of dry bulk material to minimize any environmental impact.
“This is also an important order as it is part of a growing picture that will see all operators take more sustainable steps,” Ojeda continues. “Sweden has a growing legislative effort to reduce the environmental impact of the country’s cement industry. But the same industry must maintain, and even surpass, the current capacity for ship unloading in order to keep pace with growth, which represents a potential future gap in supply and demand. Our systems can and will be part of this positive change. ”
Siwertell’s road mobile unloaders deliver completely closed material handling from the ship’s hold to the reception system, which minimizes dust emissions and eliminates spills completely. In addition, they have a dust filter installed on top of the load conveyor, which creates negative pressure to minimize volatile dust at transfer points. The filter automatically returns collected dust to the transport system.
Road mobile systems also offer a high degree of flexibility and can be moved from port to port, requiring minimal infrastructure. They have a worldwide reputation for reliability and efficiency.
“This was really a factor in the order, along with good feedback from other Siwertell unloaders,” says Ojeda. “We could also offer a local presence, with offices nearby for all lifelong service.”
Swecem’s new Siwertell 10,000 S next generation road mobile unit will have a continuous cement unloading capacity of 300 tph and can unload vessels up to approximately 10,000 dwt. It will be delivered pre-assembled to the operator’s import terminal in May 2022.
