Monaco: Tchouaméni far too expensive for Barça?
FC Barcelona is thinking of Aurélien Tchouaméni (22), to strengthen its midfield. However, his price would be far too high for his finances and the Blaugrana club would not consider making an offer until… 2023. Real Madrid and Chelsea could blow it before him.
According to the information published by sport, the Catalan club will not attach themselves to the services of the Monegasque midfielder this summer. Monaco would expect between 80 and 100 million euros to let him slip away, an unattainable amount for the Barcelonans, who are still facing a very delicate financial situation. A year ago, the Blaugrana club was threatened with bankruptcy. If he managed to strengthen this winter, he should not be able to go crazy next summer. The media specifies that the Catalans could wait until June 2023 to send him a proposal, when he will be one year from the end of his contract and therefore his transfer will be lower.
Recruited in Bordeaux for an amount of 18 million euros, in January 2020, Aurélien Tchouaméni has 7 selections with the Blues. He also took part in 81 matches under the Monegasque tunic in two years, in all competitions. He would be tracked by the great rival of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, who could associate him with Casemiro in the middle of the field. However, this is not won either for the merengue club. He has also planned to secure the services of Kylian Mbappé (PSG) and Erling Haaland (Dortmund), his priorities in attack. Other clubs like Chelsea are also said to be watching his situation and could take advantage of it.
The main interested party makes no mystery about his future. At the end of 2021, he indicated that he wanted to play for “the best clubs”wishing to leave memories, “not like an average player”. Whatever it is, his future training will have to be agreed with the Monegasque leaders. And it will obviously be necessary to sign a very large check to become attached to its services.
