Monaco and Lyon in the Top 5, PSG 25th… Here are the most commendable training centers in the world since 2015! – Soccer
The CIES Football Observatory has published the ranking of the clubs that have generated the most revenue through the sale of trained players within their academy. With notably two clubs in the Top 5, France ranks 2nd in this world ranking.
AS Monaco won big thanks to its young forms at the club
Renowned for the quality of its training, France has closed many talented players in recent decades. Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurlien Tchouamni are among the latest examples.
According to the latest weekly letter from the CIES Football Observatory, France ranks 2nd among the countries that have earned the most money from the transfers of trained players since 2015. With 1.61 billion euros collected, it ranks behind England (€2.03 billion) but ahead of Spain (€1.39 billion), Brazil (€951 million), Germany (€916 million), Portugal (€788 million ), the Netherlands (€709 million) and Argentina (€566 million).
Monaco 3rd, Lyon 5th
In France, AS Monaco is the club that has generated the most revenue through training since 2015: €285 million. More than half of this sum comes from the permanent transfer of Kylian Mbappé to PSG for 145 M€ in 2018. Thus, ASM is the third club in the world having generated the most revenue thanks to the sale of players trained in its academy. The prize goes to Benfica and its €379m, including €127.5m with the sale of Joao Flix to Atlético Madrid. Real Madrid (€330m) ranks 2nd in this world ranking.
The Top 5 is completed by Ajax Amsterdam (€283m) and Olympique Lyonnais (€270m). This comes as no surprise since both clubs are renowned for the quality of their training. The strategy of the Dutch team is essentially based on young players at the club, which is a little less the case for OL, which nevertheless continue to bring out talents (Castello Lukeba, Maxence Caqueret, Sinaly Diomand, Rayan Cherki, Malo Gusto…). Behind, Bayer Leverkusen (€213m), Atalanta Bergamo (€211m), Chelsea (€210m), Sporting CP (€209m) and Liverpool (€171m) climbed into the Top 10.
Rennes is doing as well as PSG
Further on, Paris Saint-Germain (€117m) and Stade Rennais (€117m) rank 25th. Regularly criticized for letting talents slip away for free (Coman, Rabiot, Kouassi, Zagadou …), PSG has also sold several young people, such as Moussa Diaby (15 M€), Christopher Nkunku (15 M€) or even Stanley Nsoki (€12.5 million). In Rennes, the departures of Eduardo Camavinga (€31m) and Ousmane Dembl (€35m) paid off big. Finally, AS Saint-Etienne (€89m, 33rd), Girondins de Bordeaux (€84m, 34th), Toulouse FC (€67m, 45th) and FC Nantes (€60m, 50th) complete the list of French clubs present in this Top 50.
