Ukraine: The first refugees in Athens – How they escaped the nightmare of war
Obviously moved and with the shock of the war not to be overcome, one of the Greek expatriates who arrived in our country said he was happy that he is far from the hell of the war at the moment, but he talks about the hours of agony he spent while in Ukraine. “They died too,” he said, adding:
“If you have not met the Ukrainian people, you know nothing. We are talking about dumb people like we are in 1940-50. They shake your hand and everything is OK. “They are not bad people and it is a pity.”
“The Medical Association of Athens has prepared what is needed to do the covid test but we have agreed with both the embassy and the ambassador, unfortunately almost the entire embassy (…) has covid to support them or with the accommodation we have already found for the first to come. Most of them, of course, have relatives who have been working in Greece for many years. And on the other hand that help is provided so that we can embrace these people who lived through the war, destruction and death of the Greek people, Attica, our region “said George Patoulis during the reception of the first refugees from Ukraine.
It is recalled that the first refugees from Ukraine arrived in Greece at the weekend.
