Martelange’s “cross-border” carnival has finally been canceled
Cancelled, moved to Rambrouch in the Grand Duchy and finally…cancelled. The Martelange carnival committee announced the sad news this Saturday on social networks. “The Martelange carnival must bow with disgust and bitterness,” he explains on social networks.
No cavalcade therefore on March 6th. “One week away from our organization, with motivated participants who are hard at work and rehearsing; A HORECA sector happy and ready to welcome us; With an exemplary implementation following the various Luxembourg requirements; With a motivated Mayor of Rambrouch; With generated financial commitments; With an Organizing Committee on the job… The Martelange 2022 carnival will not take place! Know that through our approach, we especially wanted to revive our folklore and our culture. Apparently, a certain high-ranking person in our Belgian south Luxembourg political landscape does not have this will and will have succeeded in frightening our Luxembourg friends! »
If he does not directly quote the political figure, the name of a mayor of a neighboring town regularly comes up in the comments.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have much to add, but we know that our HORECA friends will still meet with great success and that our carnival friends will not hold it against us,” the statement concluded.
