L1 (J26): Monaco surprised by Reims
In the obligation to impose itself to remain in contact with its competitors in Europe, Monaco carried out a very bad operation by bowing against Reims (1-2), this Sunday, within the framework of the 26th day of Ligue 1. Despite overwhelming domination for 80 minutes, the princely club completely collapsed to concede two largely avoidable goals in the last minutes of the game. A catastrophic result for the band of Philippe Clément, stuck in 6th place and which could be overtaken by several teams by Sunday evening. For the Champagne team, this improbable success allows them to climb to 13th place and take a giant step towards maintenance.
Monaco too little dangerous in the first period
Despite their very clear domination in the first quarter of an hour, Monaco did not get any clear chances. Cloistered in their area, the Rémois finally deigned to play higher and posed some concerns to their opponents. On two bad restarts from Axel Disasi, Mitchell van Bergen lacked the edge to worry Alexander Nübel (29th, 31st). Passed close to the correctional after remaining almost half an hour in the opposing camp, the ASM gave a boost. Discreet so far, Wissam Ben Yedder forced Predrag Rajkovic to make a nice horizontal shot on his heavy shot (32nd) while Maxime Busi came close to scoring against his side on a failed clearance attempt (40th).
ASM scores, wastes and cries
Alerted by a powerful shot on the bar from Fraser Hornby (47th), Monaco ended up finding the fault. Perfectly launched into the area by Sofiane Diop, Wissam Ben Yedder made a classy sequence to adjust Predrag Rajkovic with a cross shot (1-0, 55th). In the aftermath, the Monegasque captain was not far from the double but his volley from a corner hit the post (58th). In the last half hour, Monaco suffocated Reims, unable to cross the center line. However, the locals wasted a lot with three big chances for Jean Lucas (67th, 82nd) and Axel Disasi (76th).

A very difficult scenario for our Red and Whites… Next meeting, on Wednesday against Nantes in the Coupe de France.

An inefficiency that was paid for in cash. After a superb save by Alexander Nübel in front of Nathanaël Mbuku (84th), the German goalkeeper had to bow on a but against his camp from the head of Kevin Volland (1-1, 85th). A terrible end to the game for ASM, which finished at ten after the expulsion for two consecutive warnings from Jean Lucas. Worse still, the formation of the Rock, part of the boarding, was surprised after additional time on a counter flash concluded by Nathanaël Mbuku, with a very heavy strike under the bar (1-2, 90th + 3). A real nightmare for Monegasques!
