Four people have been identified for posting a banner that read “Brothers hold on tight”
Four people have been identified so far in the context of investigations carried out by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki, regarding the hanging of a banner, which read “Brothers, hold on tight.”
The banner was hung at a football match that took place on 24/02/2022 at the Toumba stadium. According to the police authorities, the investigations into the case are continuing.
The posting of the banner caused a public intervention as well as the content referred to the 12 accused for the murderous attack against 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos. Specifically, the prosecutor of the criminal prosecution ordered from the Sub-Directorate of Sports Violence of Thessaloniki to conduct a preliminary investigation on the one hand to identify those who hung the banner and on the other hand to assign them the criminal responsibilities. The offense under investigation concerns incitement to acts of violence, as described in the Sports Law.
In her order to ELAS, the prosecutor requests that the material be utilized by the security cameras of the stadium and that eyewitnesses be sought to testify. In the context of the same investigation, according to prosecutorial sources, it will also be investigated whether the PAOK officials took action to lower the banner.
