“Coriano open its doors to minors from war zones”
“Coriano open its doors to children and minors coming from areas that have become the scene of war in Ukraine”. This is the appeal made by the councilors of the group to advise ‘Together for Coriano’ (Cristian Paolucci, Roberta Talacci, Enrica Innocentini, Alessandro Leonardi) who presented an immediate invitation to the mayor in view of the municipal council meeting. Through its proposal, ‘Insieme per Coriano’ intends to commit the Corianese Council first of all to “express support in all national, European and international institutions for a diplomatic solution to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, so that it avoids a further escalation that it would open up dramatic scenarios at an international level “. Therefore “to support, in respect of the values of peace, of repudiation of war, the diplomatic initiatives of the Government and of the European Union, to favor a de-escalation of the tension between the two countries”. Through the proposal, the City Council is also asked to commit itself “through contacts with institutions, associations, to allow the removal of minors from the areas affected by the conflict, using the precautions necessary to maintain the integrity of families”, at the same time “The welcome on our territory”. The comment of the municipal councilors: “We share the decision to organize a torchlight procession in support of the Ukrainian people on March 1st in Piazza Mazzini, an example of what is happening in the squares of many Italian cities. In our opinion, however, an issue of this delicacy would require a strong signal of sharing by all the actors present in the municipality of Coriano, from politics to civil society. Battles like this unit and must not be one-sided or become a cause for fragmentation. It is for this reason that we have decided to appeal to the mayor of Ukraine Spinelli so that the city of Coriano, in a univocal way and with one voice, can express its condemnation against the war that is bleeding the country. At the same time, we make the issues of solidarity and mutual assistance our own, asking the Council for all the reception channels necessary to offer hospitality to minors from the conflict zone, in compliance with the utmost caution. Coriano, in his small way, can do a lot and must not remain indifferent in the face of a tragedy that also closely affects our community ”.
