The Liechtenstein government condemned in the strongest possible terms the Russian military operation in Ukraine. This attack constitutes a blatant violation of international law and a breach of the fundamental rules of the international order. The Liechtenstein government is extremely concerned about the recent developments in Ukraine and is appealing to the Russian government to stop hostilities immediately. She calls for compliance with international humanitarian law and for the protection of civilians in the war zone.
In this challenging situation, the Liechtenstein government expresses its solidarity with the Catholic population and government. The staff deployed by the government for the Ukraine crisis is currently examining the effects of the conflict on an ongoing basis and involving all relevant departments. The government is examining a very autonomous and complete implementation of the sanctions imposed by the EU.
Despite the recent escalations, the government continues to focus on a peaceful solution to the conflict. Liechtenstein supports the intensive efforts of international organizations and its partner countries to prevent war in Europe.
