the FC Zell am See mixes in the restructured 2nd Class South as expected for the championship title. The only reason why the people of Bergstadt did not hibernate on the throne was because of the whoops at the Herbstkehraus. The goal is and remains the ascent to die 1st class southonly to also relatively quickly jump into the 2. Landesliga Süd to accomplish.

Second place instead of first: Zell practically shot himself in the knee
Like last year in the 2nd class south/west, FC Zell is part of the elite group in the newly created 2nd class south this year. With a pleasing record of eleven wins, two draws and only one defeat, the team from Zell, trained by Peter Zeentmayr, is currently in second place behind leader Dorfgastein. “It wasn’t a bad autumn championship. Unfortunately, we missed important points in what were supposed to be easy games,” said Zehntmayr. A slip against an underdog finally cost the Bergstadters the winter crown. Because Zell couldn’t get more than a 1-1 draw against bottom team Hüttau in the last game of the year, they were intercepted in the table by Dorfgastein. What clearly speaks for the blue and yellow in relation to the expected title fight: The straight 3:0 in a direct duel with the boys from the Gasteinertal.
With the necessary duel strength to march through?
While Zehntmayr increasingly eyed football elements on the dates against the best league teams, the games against the teams that were further down the table were not remembered too positively. “It’s relatively easy for us against the front-runners because we can play with them. It’s usually difficult against opponents who play harder,” says the Zeller trainer. A nick that should be eradicated in the upcoming spring championship. Zetmayr knows: “We have to put that aside and become a bit stronger ourselves in the duel.” However, there is no room for interpretation at all in the intention of the people from Bergstadt. “Our plan is to get out of this league and the next higher league as quickly as possible,” explains Zehntmayr, who doesn’t set any limits for himself and his protégés in terms of league technology: “Now the short-term goal is the 2nd state league and then we have to look further. If the path actually goes further up, then it’ll be fine.”
