Corona outbreak at Bayern opponent RB Salzburg: Austrians report 15 positive tests
Almost a week before the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League at FC Bayern, the Austrian series champion RB Salzburg has to complain about a significant corona outbreak in its own ranks. As the club announced on Wednesday, a routine Covid 19 check had been carried out the day before after a two-day break in training. There would have been positive test results for a total of 15 people from the team and the support team. A statement went on to say: “Some of the actors are also suffering from rather mild symptoms, all are in quarantine in accordance with official requirements.”

The club canceled the two training sessions planned for Wednesday and announced further test series for the team and staff for the coming days. “General will die Hygiene and safety measures around the team increased. No spectators are allowed during the training sessions. All public events will also be canceled or postponed. The competent authority and the Austrian Football League have been informed,” said Salzburg, who also have German international Karim Adeyemi under contract.
“We are currently still ready to train and play. But we now have to monitor the further development of the uninfected players very closely in coordination with our medical department and if necessary,” said RB sports director Christoph Freund. Whether the situation will have an impact on the game in Munich does not seem to be foreseeable at the moment. In the first leg, both clubs had separated 1-1 in the past week.
