Zelensky calls on reservists, there will be no general mobilization yet
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky calls on reservists. There is no need for general mobilization yet, the President stressed his appeal to Ukrainians.
“As the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I have issued a decree on the recruitment of reservists during a special period,” Zelensky said in a video address.
“We are talking about military personnel enlisted in the reserve. We are increasing the readiness of all possible changes in the operational situation,” he said.
According to Zelensky, there is no need for general mobilization yet, but it is necessary to quickly replenish the Ukrainian army and other military formations.
A training meeting of terrorists’ reservists will also be held soon, Zelensky announced.
“As long as our soldiers protect us, we must work … earn money to finance the army,” the president said, announcing the launch of “economic patriotism programs.”
According to him, this program contains additional incentives to localize production, reduce the additional burden on business and limit inspections.
“These are incentives to attract funds from businesses and banks. Reduction of VAT on gasoline and diesel. This will reduce prices at gas stations. Our goal is to achieve economic independence. Especially in energy,” said Zelensky.
The day before, the president met with leaders of all parliamentary factions and groups. According to him, all of them today understand that today the parliament needs a defense coalition.
On Monday evening, the Russian leadership recognized the self-proclaimed “DPR and LPR”, and today gave permission to Russian President Vladimir Putin to use the army abroad, “that is, in the Donbass, in Ukraine,” Zelensky said in his speech.
“Instead of ‘we’re not there,’ the official ‘we’re still here,'” the Ukrainian president said, adding that it gave a clear answer as to who really wanted peace and who wanted redistribution of land.
“Ukrainians are a peaceful nation. We want more peace. But if we remain silent today, we will disappear tomorrow. We have daily hard work ahead of us. And we are ready for it,” the president concluded in his speech.
The day before, sanctions against Russia in response to its recognition of the self-proclaimed “DPR” and “LPR” were imposed by the United States, Britain and EU member states, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz responded by blocking the Nord Stream -2 pipeline.
According to Zelensky, who is actively cooperating with leaders of various countries amid escalation, Canada is also preparing to impose economic sanctions on Russia over its recent decisions.
