While the Moser Medical Graz99ers lost 2-1 in Innsbruck on Sunday and therefore still have to tremble for the pre-playoff participation, the HCB Südtirol Alperia got an enormous victory against the KAC in the fight for the playoffs. The South Tyroleans beat the reigning champions 3-2 and are now sixth in the table. It was the foxes’ first victory after two defeats in a row. For the 99ers, who are still in tenth place in the table, it was the second loss in a row. In a direct season comparison between Graz and Bozen, the South Tyroleans are slightly ahead. The foxes won both home games. In Graz, however, the Styrians clearly had the upper hand 4-0.
Tuesday, February 22, 2022, 7:15 p.m.: spusu Vienna Capitals – EC Red Bull Salzburg
Referees: FICHTNER, ZRNIC, Durmis, Vaczi.
EC Red Bull Salzburg lost 3-2 to a late goal in Székesfehérvár on Sunday and conceded a defeat for the first time in two straight wins. However, the Red Bulls are still the undisputed leaders in the table. With a win on Tuesday at the spusu Vienna Capitals, they could finally make first place clear. The Capitals will be in the middle of a fight for direct playoff qualification. As fourth in the table, they are currently on the best way to do so. With a win after 60 minutes against Salzburg and a simultaneous defeat by Znojmo after regular time, the people of the federal capital could no longer be denied a place in the playoffs. In February, the two teams have already met twice and ended the game by just one goal difference, with Salzburg already leading 2-0 in both games. In front of their home crowd, the Mozart city-dwellers still managed to win after overtime. In Vienna they finally had to admit defeat with 2:3.

The reigning champions EC-KAC are still struggling, suffered their fourth defeat in a row on Sunday and therefore slipped down to eighth place in the table. With HC Tesla Orli Znojmo, Klagenfurt has the second strongest offensive guest on Tuesday. On Sunday they defeated Ljubljana 8-0 and moved up to seventh place in the table. With Antony Luciani and Radek Prokes, two Czech players are at the top of the scorer ranking. In the previous three season duels, the home team always prevailed. The Czech Eagles have been waiting for a win in the Stadthalle Klagenfurt since December 2nd, 2016 and the equivalent of nine games. The EC-KAC has to do without Jakob Holzer, Niklas Würschl, Johannes Bischofberger (all injured) and Kele Steffler (ill). On the other hand, last year’s final MVP Nick Petersen, who has been missing since December 28th due to injury, should return to the lineup of the Rotjacken.

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 is well on its way to reach the playoffs. The Hungarians celebrated two important victories against Salzburg and Klagenfurt at the weekend, despite losing all of the past four games. A win after regulation time against HC TIWAG Innsbruck – the sharks would be enough for the Hungarians to secure their place in the playoffs. In addition, they could not be denied a place in the quarter-finals if Znojmo picked up just one point more than Fehérvár in the parallel game. Innsbruck need a win to maintain a chance of reaching the pre-playoffs. In a direct duel for tenth place, they managed an immensely important 2-1 home win against Graz on Sunday. They are still in eleventh place in the table, but tenth place is still within sight. In a direct comparison with Fehérvár, the Haie have won one of their three duels this season.
Tuesday, February 22, 2022, 7:15 p.m.: Dornbirn Bulldogs – HK SZ Olimpija
Referees: BERNEKER, NIKOLIC K., Eisl, Martin. | >>PPV LIVESTREAM<
The Dornbirn Bulldogs will play their first game since February 5 on Tuesday. In this they were clearly beaten by EC GRAND Immo VSV with 0:5. The Vorarlbergers are twelfth in the table. A leap into the top 10 is no longer possible for the Bulldogs. HK SZ Olimpija is ninth in the table. The Slovenians suffered a bitter 8-0 home defeat against Znojmo on Sunday. In two of the previous three season duels with the Bulldogs, the dragons from Slovenia prevailed.

The 50th round ends with the game between HC Pustertal Wölfe and EC GRAND Immo VSV. The Villachers, who are currently in second place in the table, already have the playoff ticket in their pockets. League newcomer Pustertal also has a good chance of reaching the quarter-finals as they are fifth in the table. With an active winning streak of seven games, the South Tyroleans are currently the hottest team in the league. Villach even had an eight-game winning streak before Wolves ended their impressive run on February 16. For the Adler, the home defeat against Bruneck was also the last party in the ICE. Finnish new signing Tomi Karhunen WILL make his debut in goal for VSV. Benjamin Lanzinger, who is ill, and Renars Krastenbergs will be absent in Bruneck. Anton Karlsson, on the other hand, is back in the Villach line-up.
