Facebook Reels has arrived in Portugal! And now TikTok?
Meta launches Facebook Reels today in more than 175 countries, including Portugal (until now, in Portugal, Reels was only available on Instagram).
To help creators monetize their work through Facebook Reels, Meta is testing overlay ads – ads that refer to actions or external links – starting with banners and stickers. See how it works.
Reels is a way to create and discover short videos, with a series of creative editing, audio and effects tools, which until now, in Portugal, were only available on Instagram. Meta also announced new ways to monetize or work for content creators, with new creation tools, and more places to see and create Facebook Reels.
More ways to monetize with Facebook Reels
Meta is focused on creating opportunities for creators to monetize their Reels. The 'Reels Play bonus program', part of a billion dollar investment for creators, is a program that pays creators over $35,000 a month based on Reels views.
This “bonus” has helped as breeders Jason the Great and Tasha Caroline to fund Reels, and explain the type of content that works best on Facebook. In the coming months, Meta will expand the 'Reels Play bonus program' to more countries in order to get more creators paid for creating Reels that are appreciated by their communities.
In the coming weeks, Meta will release the following updates to make it easier to create and discover Reels in new places:
- Reels in Stories: One way to maximize content reach is to share Reels on Facebook Stories, or create Reels from previously recorded Stories.
- coils without clock: Can see Reels on Tab Watch, and is being created as tools to create Reels directly on Watch.
- top of feed: A new Reel label will be added at the top of the Feed to make it easier to create and watch Reels.
- Recommendations in FeedThere will start to be suggestions from Reels that may still be of interest to you in the Feed, from content creators you don't follow.
Facebook Reels will be in Feed, Groups, and Watch. When you see a Reel, you can follow the creator directly, comment, share or share with friends.
