M. Theodoridou: The administration of the 4th dose of vaccine to the immunocompromised begins
The administration of a fourth dose of vaccine against COVID-19 to people with immunosuppression, decided the National Vaccination Committee, as instructed by the chair of the Committee and Maria Theodoridou during the briefing by the Ministry of Health.
Maria Theodoridou stressed that the people taking the fourth dose are transplanted, patients on dialysis, with liver failure, patients receiving strong immunomodulatory drugs and generally those included in the list of high-risk people, which are available at emvolio.gov.
Also for children and adolescents aged 5 – 11 years with immunosuppression, a third dose has been approved, which is considered a booster.
In adults, the fourth dose is given 3 months after the main vaccination and in children 4 weeks after.
No relaxation in the vaccination
The chairwoman of the National Vaccination Committee also said there was optimism after the measures were relaxed. He noted, however, that the vaccination sector could not be relaxed. “The idea of vaccines that the problem is coming to an end is wrong. “The re-emergence of a new epidemic wave is not ruled out,” he stressed.
Also, the professor referring to the Novavax protein vaccine is indicated for the basic vaccination. Glaxo Protein Vaccine has been tested for booster dose, regardless of the type of vaccine given for the basic vaccine.
More than 20 million vaccinations in Greece
The Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, stressed that more than 7.5 citizens have completed their vaccinations and more than 20 million vaccinations have been carried out in the country.
Regarding the reminder installment, he said that out of the 5,828,000 beneficiaries, 5,260,000 have already received the reminder installment, while 100,000 have scheduled appointments.
Regarding the receipt of the vaccines, Novavax stated that there is no information about the delivery from the company and that is why the platform has not been opened.
For people over 60 who have not received a booster dose is about 300,000 to whom the fine will be imposed.
