Igor de Camargo has announced that he will leave Belgium and RWDM at the end of the season
The RWDM striker could even end his career in Brazil.
In an interview with Bruzz, Igor de Camargo (38 years old) spoke about his return to the Edmond Machtens Stadium, which he found after many years and his stint in 2005-2006 at FC Brussels, and about the chances of RWDM going back to the division the following year 1. “We have a very good team, with a lot of technical qualities. So yes, we still believe in the title. I’m an optimistic person, it’s in my Brazilian blood. Those who think they are better than we have to prove it on the pitch.”
The striker also spoke about his Brazilian roots and the country he left before starting his career at Genk. Shortly after his arrival at RWDM this winter, he spoke to fans of Botafogo, a legendary club in Brazil and also owned by the investor John Textor. “The club has just been promoted from the second division, but it is actually a sleeping giant of Brazilian football. Garrincha, one of the best Brazilian footballers of all time, has played there his entire career. Since the takeover, the passion of the fans has rekindled and Textor really wants to put the club in its place,” he said.
Precisely, he could very well end his career in his native country. But his long stay in Belgium is soon over. “My future is in God’s hands,” he says.
“One thing is certain: in Belgium, I will stop anyway after this season. The RWDM will have been my last Belgian club”, he concluded the interview.
Or how to close the loop, and why not by helping the club to find the elite?
