Died in a firefight in 2005, the Verona Police Headquarters remembers the agents Turazza and Cimarrusti
Today, 21 February, is the anniversary of the death of the State Police Assistants Davide Turazza and Giuseppe Cimarrusti, who were awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Valor in memory.
It was 2005 when, during an ordinary Volante service at the White Cross in Verona, agents Turazza and Cimarrusti confronted a man armed with a small gun who had previously attacked and wounded a woman. Made targets of violent fire, they replied with the weapon in managing to neutralize the attacker, but were nevertheless mortally wounded.
The commemoration ceremony took place at 10 am on Monday morning in the Police Headquarters, in front of the plaque dedicated to the Fallen in the fulfillment of duty, in the presence of the Questor of the province of Verona, Dr. Ivana Petricca, the Vicar of the Prefect, Dr. Francesca De Carlini, the Director of the Steering Wheels, Dr. Vanessa Pellegrino, the Provincial Chaplain Don Luigi Trapelli and the family members of the assistant Davide Turazza.
Subsequently, the family members of Turazza, together with the Director of the UPGSP, the Provincial Chaplain and a representative of agents, went for a moment of prayer to the Chievo Cemetery, in front of the tomb of the unfortunate agent.
Finally, there was also a moment of meditation in front of the plaque placed in memory of the assistant Giuseppe Cimarrusti, at the Commissariat of Borgo Roma.
